Chemical Peels

Summer will be here before we realize it! A popular treatment that is best to complete before the hot summer months is a chemical peel. May is a great month to try SkinMedica's Vitalize Peel. This treatment will facilitate shedding of the dull dry skin from the winter months and get your glow back for summer.

Some flaking of the skin is noticed approximately 48 hours after the peel and lasts about 3–5 days, depending on the person. Post-peel skin will be brighter, smoother and dark spots may begin to fade. (Very dark spots or melasma requires a series of peels.)

Treatment for Excessive Sweating

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating and is a problem that embarrasses many people. It refers to any abnormal sweating, such as sweating when it’s not hot. People who sweat excessively often soak through their clothing or drip sweat and regular antiperspirants don’t work well for those with this condition.

BOTOX® or Dysport® are effective treatments. They work by blocking the nerves responsible for activating your sweat glands. Normally, your nervous system activates your sweat glands when your body temperature rises. This is how your body automatically cools itself. In people with hyperhidrosis, however, the nerves that signal the sweat glands are overactive.

This treatment is quick, easy and lasts about nine months. Many people address this problem as we head into the summer months when the condition is even more noticeable. Although we do not bill medical insurance for this procedure many people are able to use their HSA or FSA to cover the cost. Call 734.946.8800 or contact us to see if you are a candidate for this procedure.
